I’ll be updating this blog with more music, skateboarding, crazy pics and more shockers shorlty, so don’t get your dingle berries in a rutt! But in the mean time, Merry Christmas, “It’s the time of the season for loving.”

NHS Announces Distribution of Flip Skateboards

5 12 2008

nhs_flip1Whoa! I guess the recession isn’t holding everyone down! NHS distribution acquires Flip skateboards! First Tony Hawk takes full ownership of Birdhouse from Blitz (although they still distribute birdhouse), and now NHS with Flip … hmmm.

NHS, one of skateboarding’s largest and most successful manufacturer/distributors, is proud to welcome Flip Skateboards to its brand roster. NHS will utilize its global sales and distribution reach to realize Flip’s full potential as a dominant skateboard brand.

Bob Denike, President and CEO of NHS had this to say,
“The addition of Flip strengthens our position to be the #1 skateboard supplier in the industry. The NHS strategy is simple; strong brands across all categories, innovative product development and working with the best pro skaters; past, present and future. The Flip brand together with the global Flip team are a powerful and welcome addition to the NHS group. And frankly, it’s about f*#king time!”

“I am proud and honored that the rich histories of both NHS and Flip Skateboards have come together. With the support of NHS and the strength of the Flip brand and team it’s a win-win situation. The timing could not have been more perfect!”
Geoff Rowley, Pro Skater, co-owner – Flip Skateboards

Jeremy Fox, Flip founder, says
“This move makes perfect sense for the Flip brand as well as for NHS as our new distribution partner, and we feel that there is great synergy between the two companies both in terms of business direction and commitment to skateboarding.”

Baaaahumbug to Adidas

4 12 2008

How can a huge corpo giant that makes waaaay too much money take Christmas away from their employees? Wasn’t jumping on the skateboarding bandwagon good for them? Perhaps they rather spend those dollas on featuring at least 10 high profile faces on their NEW one-minute “Original House Party” commercial. I wonder how much each of those peeps  they sponsor (Missy Elliot, David Beckham,  Russel Simmons, etc.) got for such a commercial? Yet they have no funds for a nice company Christmas party, not even a lil “House Party”???

Sole Tech to the rescue! The kind people at Etnies are throwing a party for the employees of Adidas! And we all know Etnies throws THE best parties! PBR and mistletoe kisses for all!

Even CNBC blogged about it! ha

Boss Hog Returns After Eight Years!

1 12 2008

boss_hogThey’ve been in hiding for the past eight years but now they’re back in shock-effect! Infamous, New York based band Boss Hog will be returning to the New York stage on Wednesday, December 17, headlining at the Bowery Ballroom. Who know you may get lucky and catch front-woman Cristina Martinez show some sexy skin on stage. The band turned some heads with Martinez’s confrontational use of full nudity on the band’s debut live performance and record sleeves. Cross your fingers, you may see a titty or two.

Together, the completely unpredictable punk chanteuse Cristina Martinez and her blues-exploding husband Jon Spencer, this will mark Boss Hog’s first hometown show since 2000. Jon Spencer is pretty damn kick ass as well. I highly recommend listening to and catching a live performance of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Explaining their eight-year hiatus, Cristina says, “It’s been two torturous terms of Republican disease and culture death. Now that we’re free, it’s the perfect time for us to bring back our own brand of sick in celebration.”

Joining Boss Hog at the Bowery Ballroom is a full compliment of rhythm and grind, featuring the country punk moxie of Tennessee’s Those Darlins, the titillating parade of burlesque goddesses Harvest Moon and Dirty Martini, and special guest DJ Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Sounds like a hell of a show. Oh, and Those Darlins are pretty damn good too! They’ll be touring in 2009 with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Click here for more Boss Hog shows.
