Album of the Week – Peaches “I feel Cream”

29 05 2009

Peaches-i-feel-creamAlbum after album, I’m always loving me some Peaches. She’s as free-spirited as a dirty South rapper, grabbin’ booty and lookin’ fora  bone. Ain’t no shame in her game. I’m loving her new album “I feel Cream,” hence the reason why it’s the album of the week over here at As always she brings the beats, the tech, the rock, and the smooth— all rapped into one tasty treat you just wanna eat.

I dig her sexy, soft song “Loose You,” but “Mommy Complex” is my jam! Not only do I think the lyrics are dope, but it’s a great song to dance to, has some of those early 90’s raver beats—kinda like when L.A. Style’s “James Brown is Dead” was the hype; fuzzy hard crazy beats.

Idolator Sticks it to Lady Ga Ga: HARD

29 05 2009

Lady-Ga-Gar-RSHot damn! Popular music blog, Idolator hands Lady Ga Ga her buttah-face on a plate. Although on the cover of Rolling Stone, Lady Ga Ga gets served on Idolator. You gotta peep the write-up, it’s fuckin haaalariouse and full of validity.

“Sorry! Perhaps now that you know this you can try to, I don’t know, write a better hook? Or at least stop touring with the Pussycat Dolls, who you really aren’t all that different from, despite your art-school protests?”

PS – I really hate that Rolling Stone wastes their covers for someone so talentless (they’ve done it many times). Sure don’t make them like they used to . . .

Scarlett Johansson Going for a Second Album–Oh No

29 05 2009

breakupx-largeIt was bad enough that she had to taint the lyrical genius of Tom Waits with “Anywhere I Lay My Head”, but now the curvdacious Hollywood starlet is back again giving it another go with yet another album. Which famed musician will she piggy-back this time around? Why it’s Pete Yorn, an American singer/song writer we all love to love!

Again, as I said when she came out with her first album-love her as an actress, but singing is just not her thing. I think it’s ridonkulous that she can’t go at it alone without the help of a renowned musician. Who knows, with a lot of mixing and a catchy hook, “Break Up” just might grant her a one-hit-wonder. Afterall, trying to follow Waits is like being that lil retarded kid who had to perform after the popular kids in a talent show.

“Break Up” is a series of duets sung by Yorn and Johansson. Listen to their first single “Relator” on It’s clear who carries the harmony . . .

The Dead Weather

28 05 2009

Dead WeatherIt cracks me up how so many bands do the dark, dreary, I’m gonna scare you kind of steez. That whole look has become quite stale. Nonetheless, The Dark Weather should be pretty badass .  If you haven’t heard, Jack White (of White Stripes) has formed yet another power project, consisting of Alison Mosshart (of the Kills), guitarist Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs). The Dead Weather’s debut record titled “Horehound” hits the scene July 14! With a line-up like that, I’m sure it’s going to be pretty sick. Not to mention I absolutely love Alison Mosshart, she’s the coolest thing since Otter Pops.

The first single, “Hang You From The Heavens”, has more Mosshart on the vocals. It’s sexy, sassy and beat rockin’! The b-side cover Gary Numan’s “Are Friends Electric?” is more Jack, a bit quirky, dark carnival-like fun. Both are both pretty sweet, nothing jaw dropping, but enough to leave us hungry for more.

They have a full set of North American tour dates, including three festivals (Outside Lands, Austin City Limits and Street Scene) and a couple dates in Euro. Cop tickets asap, they will sell out:

Independent Music Awards Judges Announced!

28 05 2009

The Independent Music Awards (IMAs) is an influential and effective international program that helps up-and-coming indie artists blow their shit up! In other words, the IMAs recognize these low profile bands and grants them the opportunity for publicity and exposure with all types of industry movers and shakers, thus making it “BIG” and living happily-ever-after. Good stuff.

The first group of judges have been announced! Consisting of some amazing musicians (The Black Keys), some “who are they” (Jesse Malin) and a “WTF!” (Hanson). Some notable judges include M. Ward, Mark Hoppus, Suzanne Vega, DJ Spooky, Charlie Musselwhite, and more. Check the full list of judges at

I hope they sit Peter Wentz right next to The Black Keys, that would surely give the boys a hoot. Maybe they can exchange pointers … yeah right.

Submissions for the 9th annual Independent Music Awards program must be received by Friday, August 21, 2009 to be considered for the upcoming program. So get on it and may the force be with you!
