‘Outer South’ by Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band

oberst-mysticvbWhile listening to “Outer South” by Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, I found myself not too thrilled at first listen, but the second time around I was a bit more pleased. I’m not saying it’s a bad album, but it just didn’t do anything for me. A lil too hokey-pop-hippieville for me, I need something with a lil more edge if you’re going to push those genres on me. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the lyrics to “Air Mattress,” it’s totally sweet and cute (sorry, had to get girly there). Not to mention it reminds me of a special time that once was. I also enjoyed the dark, erie, undertones of “Snake Hill.” It’s he kind of song you just want to take a bottle of Jack to the dome. Ope!

Would I buy the whole album? No. But I’ll definitely purchase a few mp3’s. Check it for yourself in all its entirety at AOl’s Spinner.com
