Fool’s Gold Release Official “Surprise Hotel Video”

24 09 2009

LA’s Fool’s Gold has come out with their official video to their amazingly awesome song, “Surprise Hotel.” It’s wet n’ wild and looks like heaps of fun! Especially for the old cheesy farts frolicking in the video with bikini clad babes.

Their vibrant dance anthem “Surprise Hotel” is almost five minutes of sheer delight and will have you wishing you were on the white sands of an exotic beach dancing the night away.

Their self-titled debut album drops Sept. 29 off of IAMSOUND. If you ever get the chance to see Fool’s Gold live, I highly suggest you jump on it. They put on an awesome live show full of movement and a plethora of instruments. Not to mention, they’re all pretty damn good looking!

Post Post! You Need to Check Out These All Fem Indie Rocketes!

19 08 2009

postpostlunt1With just about two years together under their belt, Philadelphia all-fem-indie rockers, Post Post, are well on their way to hooking and reeling you in. Producing a tantalizing sound of angelic vocals supported by a rockin’ display of instrumentation composed of guitar, bass, synth, and drums, Post Post has managed to deliver a more than sumptuous EP titled “Meta Meta.”

The four girls, who met and joined forces at Bryn Mawr College, an all-women’s liberal arts college outside Philadelphia, created “Meta Meta” from the ground up. It was a total “do-it-yourself” method which makes their efforts and loveable sound all the more admirable. Similar to the humble beginnings of Tegan and Sara, Post Post utilized their school’s multicultural center to make their first demo EP. After two days of camping out and using two mics, garageband, and lots of love, the girls are set to release “Meta Meta” on Sept. 4, 2009.

With five addicting tracks of sweet melodic indie pop, Post Post also throws in some hypnotizing moments of build-up, dissolution and serene dream-like instrumentals that border reality and the jovial state of fantasy. Front woman Michelle Zauner’s lyrics are poignantly fueled with emotion and all things real. Her words are those that many can relate to and are a refreshing stance away from much of the bull-shit lyrics infiltrating the sound waves today.

In all its entirety “Meta Meta” is quite the catch. Yet my favorite track is “Wolf.” The instrumentals are absolutely amazing in this song, a bit of an eerie intro enhanced by such sweet melancholy lyrics—the song almost becomes a story with its musical build-up, drops and progression.

Delivering such an impressive EP, Post Post is set to become a recognized name in the indie circuit. You can dowloand their entire EP “Meta Meta” for FREE here.

Who Is Post Post:
Michelle Zauner: Guitar, Vocals
Riki Gifford-Ferguson: Bass, Vocals
Marisa Helgeson: Synth, Vocals
Casey Sowa: Drums

Miguel Migs Presents Get Salted Volume 2 – FREE MP3 Download

14 08 2009

miguel_migs_photo1-webGroovalicious, sexy, sweet! Those are the three words that come to mind when I think of Miguel Migs’ new album “Get Salted Volume 2.”

It’s been four years since Migs released the critically acclaimed Get Salted compilation on his own Salted Records. A lot’s happened since the landmark release – Migs wrote and recorded an album (Those Things), released a remix album (Those Things Remixed) put together a new live act and toured with his band Petalpusher, continued to tour all over the world full time as a DJ, worked on his label, and of course, there’s his beloved ‘67 Chrysler Newport convertible and other life things to take care of, too.

Aside from his oh-so-busy life, Migs has put out a stellar new album. It’s been playing on my iPhone non-stop all day yesterday and now today. Stay tuned for a full review. But until then here’s a FREE download of album track “Lisa Shaw ‘Like I Want To’ (Dutchican Soul Vocal Rub)” to hold you over.

“Get Salted Volume 2” drops Sept. 22!

MIGUEL MIGS TOUR DATES
Aug. 15 The Love Festival – Los Angeles
Aug. 16 Tao Pool – Las Vegas
Sept. 5 Palms Pool – Las Vegas

jay-reatardJay Reatard’s new song, “Ain’t Gonna Save Me,” is rad! Totally diggin’ this fun song, very 70’s punk/new wave, reminds of something Devo would have played. If all the songs on his new album “Watch Me Fall” are going to be as good as this one, I’m sure Mr. Reatard will soon become the big headliner, and not the opener. New Sigur Ros Album

29 05 2008

After almost three years of depriving us of his beautiful music, our favorite Icelandic songbird, Sigur Ros, flys in with some more enchanting tunes. His 5th LP titled, (brace yourself, this shit is gnarly) “með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust,” which translates: with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly, will be released June 24.

As more and more kind musicians seem to be giving away free mp3’s and entire albums, Sigur has made available his single “Gobbledigook” free to download. Gobble di Gook, hmmm, I almost feel politically incorrect saying that out loud. Good music nonetheless, so cruise on over to sigurros.com and get this surprisingly upbeat, good-feeling track. Check out the new vid here.
